This Sleep Story is called The Comet and the Cat. It takes place in May of 1910, in a small fishing village on an island in the Inland Sea of Japan, on the night the whole village stayed up to see Halley's Comet. There is sea fog, a very proud telescope, and a cat who has opinions about all of it.

The story is told three times, each telling slower and softer than the last.
